Pre-cautions to be taken while travelling in Sonepur Mela.

DOs:
Ø  Prefer packaged food.  
Ø  Detailed Map of the area.
Ø  Call 100, in case of any emergency.  
Ø  Contact details of local Police Station.  
Ø  Adhere to the local laws and customs.
Ø  If possible move in group/ company of known persons.
Ø  Check the seal before buying the water to make sure that it is intact.
Ø  Make sure you carry photo copies of all travel related document while travelling.
Ø  Foreign friends requested to carry Passport and VISA alongwith but very safely. 
Ø  Take care of your Health, if not complete fit and sound then postpone the trip to next season.
Ø  Always carry bottled drinking water with you and buy water from respectable and decent looking outlets.
Ø  Always carry your identity proof, i.e. Voter ID, Driving licence, Passport/ any Govt. issued document. 
Ø  While travelling make sure to keep your contacts at home and inform them about your whereabouts all the time.
Ø  If you fall very sick, it is better to visit a doctor. However, ask the hotel authorities or the people at whose house you are staying to refer a good doctor to you.
Ø Always carry a kit of the basic emergency medicines you might need, esp. medicines for upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, etc. Also, keep some band-aids, antiseptic ointments, etc with you.

Ø  Carry big loads.
Ø  Befriend with locals/ agents
Ø  Big cameras/ wallets/ laptops.
Ø  Keep your mobile switched on.
Ø  Get involve in any immoral activities.
Ø  Go into deep waters while having dip in Gandak/ Ganga
Ø  Wash the fruits properly with water well before eating them.
Ø  It is advisable to keep a mosquito repellent ointment with you always.
Ø  Avoid roaming here & there, outside, particularly during the night hours 
Ø  Never eat cut fruits sold by the roadside vendors. Always eat fruits you can peel.
